Toy Story 3

I decided I've been watching too many scary movies lately. Toy Story was a must for me. Whenever I'm having a bad day or week I just want to put in a good Disney movie and cuddle up under the covers.

I, as I'm sure everyone else did, grew up with the Toy Story characters. My brother owned a Woody and Buzz doll and I always loved Bo Peep. I was so excited when I found out there was going to be a third movie! It definitely didn't disappoint. I watched it for the first time in theaters with my brothers.

The story stars with Andy all grown up and getting ready to leave for college. His toys accidently get donated to a daycare run by a tyrannical bear called Lots-O. The rest of the story deals with the toys adventures when they try to escape and get back to Andy.

There were a couple of parts that I thought the toys I grew up with were doomed and I cried a little at the end when I realized it really was over.

The Thing

Im in film appreciation this semester. Every Wednesday night we watch a movie as a class. This week we watched the 1982 John Carpenter movie The Thing.

This is a horror film but I didn't find myself too terrified (until of course my friend explained how she thought the monster looked like a spider, my biggest fear). The only reason I couldn't look out from behind my hands is the gore that John Carpenter found the need to put in. Blood + guts = a disgusted ebeth.

The story is about a group of researchers in Antarctica who stumble upon an alien ship and an alien that shapshifts into perfect replicas of human beings. I felt unsatisfied at the end, wanting to know what happened next.

After the movie I searched IMDb to find out more about the movie and found out that they are making a prequel to the movie. It will have the same title. This is going to be difficult for me to watch. Movies today seem to scare me more then the horror movies from the past.

Paranormal Activity 2

I have no idea how I got talked into watching this one.

I hate scary movies. And this one definitely terrified me. I couldn't fall asleep afterwards for the longest time.

The movie is a prequel to the first Paranormal Activity (which I did not watch and I probably never will). The movie centers around a family with a newborn baby boy. One day the family comes home to find all their things thrown around the house. The only room not touched was the baby's room. Thinking it was a burglar and not wanting it to happen again, the family puts up cameras. Most of the rest of the movie is seen through those cameras. The cameras catch some crazy things happening (doors opening by itself, shadows, the pool vacuum lift itself out of the pool, and the cabinets all opening at the same time just to name a few).

The movie was completely messed up and I had my eyes covered most of the time. Definitely not one I will watch again!

The Roommate

Saw The Roommate last night with my roomie Ashton.

The movie was completely psychotic. I didn't think Leighton Meester had it in her. She played her role so well it's scary. I will never be able to look at her the same way. Watching this movie made me so glad I would never have to be a freshman in college again!

The movie is about a girl from Iowa coming to school in LA for her freshman year. She is paired up with a random roommate who turns out to be Leighton Meester. Through the whole movie you can tell she's just a little off. *Spoiler Alert* One example is when she kills the kitten in the dryer.** All she wants is her roommate to be her best friend. She finally completely loses it and things do NOT go her way.

I'm glad I can say I've seen it but I will probably NEVER see it again. It freaked me out way too much!

Secretariat

Next movie up for discussion: Secretariat!

I bought this movie on Tuesday. I hadn't seen it yet but I'm a sucker for Disney movies so I knew I'd like it and want to watch it over and over again. I was right!!

The movie is about a woman who is trying to save her family farm. A horse is born and she has it trained to race. The goal is for Secretariat to win the triple crown... The Kentucky Derby, Preakness Steaks, and Belmont Steaks. If Secretariat loses just one, he will be devalued and the family will lose the farm. Of course, since this is based on a true story, we know exactly how it ends. BUT I was still on the edge of my seat, nervous, afraid that the horse won't win the next race. There was even a tear or two by the end.

I would definitely recommend anyone to watch this. A wonderful Disney family movie.

Movies, Movies, Movies!

So I created this blog for my social media marketing class. I was trying to think of what I could write about for the next few months that could keep me interested.

My answer: Movies!!

I'm obsessed.

When in Wal-Mart, it's difficult for me to pass by the $5 movie bin and NOT buy a new movie. I always make sure to visit the electronics section of Target to look at the movies they have. If I go see a movie and love it I will make sure to buy it the day it comes out at Best Buy. (It's always cheaper to buy the movie the day it comes out instead of waiting!)

I decided that this blog will be me talking about the movies I see and what I thought about them.

I will start with a movie I saw on Friday. No Strings Attached with Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman. I have not laughed so hard at a movie in a long time. There were times I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard.

The movie is about a boy and a girl who decide to take their friendship to one with benefits... with "no strings attached." As soon as one of them started feeling something for the other person, they would end it.

Kutcher and Portman work well together in this movie. It was extremely entertaining to watch and pretty racy at some parts (definitely not a kid movie). This may be a movie I have to but the day it comes out on movie!
